Vulnerability Assemblages

Situating Vulnerability in the Political Economy of Artificial Intelligence

Recent publication

The development of AI applications requires real data for training. In order to depict vulnerable groups and avoid disadvantages, missing data is sometimes generated artificially. In a publication, the Division of Gerontology describes why artificial generation leads more to the exclusion than to the genuine integration of vulnerable groups. The article shows that inclusion must be demanded politically and cannot be solved by fictitious concepts. The work was supported by the Vienna Science Fund and the State of Lower Austria and has been published freely accessible in the journal ‘Socius’ thanks to KL's open access funding.
