Ki67 Tumor Expression Predicts Treatment Benefit
... Achieved by Macroscopic Radical Lung-Preserving Surgery in Pleural Mesothelioma-A Retrospective Multicenter Analysis
Recent publication
Pleural mesothelioma is a malignant tumour of the pleura with a poor prognosis for patients. Late diagnosis and a lack of support in choosing treatment options are crucial. The Department of General and Thoracic Surgery at the General Hospital Krems, in cooperation with the Institute of Clinical and Molecular Pathology of the Lower Austrian Regional Centre, examined the expression of Ki67 in 70 patients with pleural mesothelioma. Ki67 may be useful as a predictive parameter for survival and as a decision aid for or against surgery as part of multimodal therapy. Thanks to KL's open access funding, the study is freely available in "Cancers".
