The future of general practice and family medicine in Austria

In her article in The Central European Journal of Medicine, Dr Susanne Rabady, Head of the Division of General and Family Medicine, writes about the role of general and family medicine in Austria and compares its national perception with international definitions. She postulates that with increasing specialisation, general practice is once again gaining in importance, both for the individual in terms of patient-centred medicine and for the healthcare system through the clear assumption of responsibilities and the application of specialist methods.
