Kulturgerontologische Prolegomena

Recent publication

Dr Vera Gallistl BA MA and Prof Dr Franz Kolland, both from the Division of Gerontology, and their colleague Prof Dr Ulla Kriebernegg from the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Ageing and Care, provide an introduction to cultural gerontology. In the editorial of the Journal of Gerontology and Geriatrics, they explain in particular how a cultural gerontological perspective can change the classification of older people as vulnerable and in need. Various articles deal with the construction of vulnerability, its advantages, disadvantages and differences. The authors agree that a cultural view of ageing complements and expands the biological and psychosocial view. The article is available in open access and refers to the articles in the issue, categorising them in the field of vulnerability from different perspectives.
