Dr Hossein Taghizadeh, MSc PhD, is the first author of the current position paper of the Austrian Society of Haematology and Oncology, which summarises the current state of science in the treatment of bile duct carcinoma. Dr Taghizadeh works at the Division of Internal Medicine 1 at St. Pölten University Hospital. In the current publication, new combination therapies with immune checkpoint inhibitors are presented and a focus is placed on molecular biological diagnostics. This enables the early identification of follow-up therapy options that are preferable to chemotherapy as a second treatment step.
