Bacterial bioindicators enable biological status classification

... along the continental Danube river

Recent publication

To assess the biological status of rivers, researchers are working on the selection of suitable indicators. They prove that the presence of a few selected bacterial genera allows a good prediction of biodiversity and ecology along the river. The description of these measurement methods was published freely available in the journal "Communications Biology" with the cooperation of the Division of Water Quality and Health.
